Cardoso Racing finishes JuniorGP in Valencia with a podium finish by Pasquale Alfano

The Italian rider finished second in Superstock 600, while in Moto2 the team fought in the leading group.

The FIM JuniorGP has ended in a very positive way for Cardoso Racing with the podium of Pasquale Alfano in the last race of the season. After a positive qualifying session for him in which he was fourth fastest, Alfano started the race with a lot of desire and with the clear objective of getting on the podium.

Alfano was constantly in the leading positions and showed in a convincing way the good step forward he has made in every race this season. Finally, the Cardoso Racing rider crossed the finish line in second position, while Filip Řeháček finished eighth after completing a weekend in which he has also shown a clear improvement compared to previous races, in which he was recovering from his recent injury.

Pasquale Alfano: "I'm very happy with this podium, we finally made it. We have been very close in many races and now we have it. I want to thank the whole team because it has been a difficult year, we started in the JuniorGP category where we were not getting results, but we understood that we had to change and we have achieved great things, so thank you very much to everyone, to the sponsors, to my family... this has been a good end, but also a good start for 2023".

Filip Řeháček: "We went out really looking forward to it because in practice we were close to the top 3, and we wanted to fight there. It was difficult the first lap, I fought, and in the end we finished the season with a top 10 that tastes little after the great work we did this weekend. Anyway, we have made a big step forward here in my driving style, so I want to thank the team for their help and support. Now we have to face next season with a lot of ambition."

In the case of Moto2, the races of Borja Gómez and Roberto García have been different, but both have left good results for the team. Garcia started from seventh position, from there he was fourth on the first lap and was fighting for the front positions from the start. As the laps went by, the Andalusian rider continued to show good form to finally finish sixth.

In the case of Borja Gómez, he started the race from 32nd position after a penalty in the qualifying session. Despite starting last, the rider from Murcia made a spectacular comeback to finish the race seventh.

Roberto García:
"In the race we took a step forward, in the first laps we fought for fifth position with the leading riders. We had a small problem, we lacked top speed in the straights, but I think we were able to manage it well. In the last laps we suffered with the rear tire, but I'm happy because we are still fighting for the front positions".

Borja Gómez: "It was a positive day and we learned again on this bike. Yesterday we were penalized and had to start from thirty-second position, and finally we finished seventh, so it was a good comeback. I'm feeling better and better, we must continue to learn from this new category".

José Luis Cardoso (Team Leader): "I am happy with the final result of the weekend. In this championship we have always had an upward progression, and the truth is that we are very happy with Alfano's podium. We have worked very hard with him throughout the year, he has improved and had a great end to the season, so we are happy and already thinking about next year. In Moto2 here we have had with us Borja Gomez, who has no experience with this bike and little by little has been growing during the training. Together with Roberto they have made a perfect tandem, they have worked very well together. It went very well, except for a mishap we had on Friday with a crash that both of them had, but neither of them got hurt. Looking ahead to the race, it was difficult, Borja started last due to a penalty. Roberto started sixth, and both did an impeccable race. Borja came back and finished seventh and Roberto rode with the leading group and finished sixth, so we are happy. For his part, Filip has improved this weekend from the start. In practice he was strong and we thought we could fight for the top 5, but in the race he was not able to close it because at the beginning he had a mishap with another rider and fell out of the fight, so we continue working for the future".
