Sixth Superbike victory of the season for Cardoso Racing

Borja Gómez dominated the first day of racing in Jerez with pole position and first place in the race.

Cardoso Racing has started very well the last round of the Spanish Superbike Championship at the Jerez - Angel Nieto circuit. The Andalusian team arrived in a great form in the premier class of this championship with Borja Gomez and both the team and the rider have shown that they remain the rivals to beat.

Borja Gómez started the weekend in great shape with the first position in both FP1 and FP2 with a best time of 1:40.812. Thanks to this good performance Cardoso Racing started Saturday with a lot of confidence and Gómez took the pole by improving his best lap to a 1:40.373, three tenths faster than the second classified.

In the race nobody could stop the driver from Murcia, who after 16 laps won with a lead of 3.6 seconds over his closest rival. With this result, Borja Gómez now has six victories in the last seven races and is only four points behind the second in the championship, Óscar Gutiérrez, so if Borja Gómez wins again tomorrow, he will be runner-up.

Borja Gómez: "So far it's been a very positive weekend here in Jerez. I feel very happy and very comfortable with the bike and my team. This morning we got the pole position and in the afternoon the victory, so we are very satisfied, but we are already thinking about tomorrow's race with the goal of winning again".

In Supersport Next Generation Filip Řeháček is having some difficulties. The Czech rider who continues to recover sensations after his injury was able to improve in the qualifying session his best time of the free practice with a best lap in 1:47.112, a time that allowed him to start the race from the sixteenth position of his category. Despite his physical condition and some problems, the Czech rider was able to finish eleventh in Supersport Next Generation.

Filip Řeháček: "Today was really difficult. In QP we improved our time from free practice, but we are having a problem with the bike from the first practice that is giving me difficulties to improve. In the race it was difficult for me to keep moving forward with this happening to us, so we are working really hard to detect the problem and fix it so that tomorrow we can finish the last race better."

Tomorrow the last races of the ESBK season will be held. At 13:00 it will be the turn of Supersport Next Generation and one hour later Superbike will start.
